POSITIONS

TEACHING PARENT FULL-TIME
Work in one of three Group Homes (7 days on/7 days off) or the short-term Shelter (5 on/5 off) in a Teaching Family model.  Each house has eight beds, with three staff on duty during waking hours with residents.

Teaching parents maintain their own residences off-campus. Children of staff are not permitted to accompany parents to work.

One-two years residential childcare experience helpful, high school diploma required.  BA or BS in Human Services preferred. Salary, benefits.

Starting salary:
$9.00-9.50 per hour

SOCIAL WORKER/MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL/CHILD CARE SUPERVISOR:                            The Maryland Salem Children's Trust, providing residential and special education services to children in need, is seeking a social worker/mental health professional to supervise one of its residential group homes serving eight children generally between the ages of six and fifteen.

Responsibilities include supervision of Teaching Parents, monitoring implementation of the Teaching Family Model, providing crisis support, and preparing needed written documentation. Other position responsibilities include providing formal therapy (individual, group, and family) and case management for eight children in residence. 

Salem is seeking candidates who have had experience in implementing the Family Teaching Model.  Experience in Girls and Boys Town programs helpful.  Services are from a Christian perspective.  Masters in Social Work preferred, Masters In Counseling Psychology considered. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in MD.  Also required: two years experience in residential child care and two years experience as a supervisor/consultant.
