BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Terry Russell, Ph.D., President, chairs the Social Work Department at Frostburg State University. Previously he was employed in the Intensive Treatment Unit for Three Rivers Youth in Pittsburgh, PA, and in Aging Adult Services with Lutheran Affiliated Services, and has worked with numerous church-related organizations. He resides in Rawlings, Allegany County. (Since 2001)

Robert Huebner, Ph.D., Vice President, is owner and broker of Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty. He was a member of the Human Development faculty at the University of Maryland from 1969-1995, and is currently President of Garrett Cooperative Ministry (Christian Crossing Thrift Shop). He is also President of Garrett County Habitat for Humanity, Treasurer of Garrett County United Way, and a member of Oakland Mountain Lake Park Lions Club. Dr. Huebner lives in Swanton, Garrett County. (Since 2001)

Lowell Bender, Secretary, Dean of Continuing Education at Garrett College, has provided leadership to community and church organizations for over 30 years. He chairs the Garrett County Community Action Board, is Vice President of the Small Business Development Center, and is a member of Western Maryland Workforce Investment Board and the Economic Development Corporation and other community organizations. He is a resident of Bittinger, Garrett County. (Since 2003)

Harold Fike, Treasurer, is a principal with Fike, Connor & Associates, PA, accountants. He also served as accountant and financial administrator for the Garrett County Roads Department, is on the Board of Directors of the Union Rescue Mission in Cumberland, and has served in a variety of leadership positions in his church congregation including teaching children’s classes. Mr. Fike lives in LaVale. (Since 2004)

Harold Forsyth is currently an independent land title abstractor. Previously, he was a contract landman for Exxon Coal & Minerals where he purchased oil, gas and coal leases in Maryland, West Virginia, Arkansas, Illinois, Montana and North Dakota. He was employed by Salem as a Teaching Parent from 1995-1997 before joining the Board of Directors. A member of the Elks, American Legion and VFW, he has lived in Oakland, Garrett County, since 1981. (Since 1997)

Sam Reckley, Past President, worked 25 years as an engineer for Kelly Springfield before his retirement. His experience included management, design, testing, manufacturing and more. He is a volunteer in community organizations and lives in LaVale, Allegany County. (A member of the Salem Board since 2000)
George Ott is owner of Ott Music House & Christian Center and of Gardner’s Candies. A musician, his directing experience includes church and school choirs and bands, the Cumberland Choral Society and September Singers. Currently he is on the music faculty at Bishop Walsh School. He has directed the Salem Choir for two years on a volunteer basis. Mr. Ott resides in Cumberland. (Since 2002)
