The Salem community, though not affiliated with any single denomination, is a Christ-centered sanctuary which offers healing to hurting children and their families.

A child's pain and suffering foster a sense of alienation from himself, his family, his community and even from God, and so the healing process must take place on multiple levels. The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being of wounded children must be nurtured carefully.

Salem offers a stable and structured environment, one with limits but tempered with acceptance and love. This is a place where healing can take root; where an emotionally injured child begins to build a healthy identity and to develop trusting relationships with others.

Through Biblical teachings, a child can:

• sense a purpose for good in his or her life;
• begin to relate to others in healthy ways;
• begin to understand the need to give and receive forgiveness;
• grasp the character and nature of God and begin to understand and appreciate His wonderful love.
