OUTSPOKIN' FOR KIDS
Annual Fundraiser

OutSpokin' for Kids takes its name from 15 years of bicycle and motorcycle rides on behalf of Salem's kids.  For ten consecutive years, Risk Manager Tom Ruckert rode his bike across the state of Maryland to raise a total of $100,000 in operating funds.

This year members of The Watchmen (Christian Motorcyclists Association) rode 1,000 miles from Salem to Salem, KY, and back in under 24 hours, in the fourth annual OutSpokin' Millennium Ride.

In recent years OutSpokin' expanded to include a banquet and silent auction.

For the second consecutive year, Salem operated a natural food booth at the Springs Folk Festival, now in its 49th year.  Giant all-natural cookies (peanut butter and ginger), a spicy peanut snack mix, and pumpkin roll were on the menu.  Kids and staff together managed the booth on Saturday.
